General Tourist Discussion - Japan / Re: The State of Japan
« Last post by myoko-nagano on November 14, 2013, 04:39:51 PM »
I probably don't know anymore than you IcePhreak, just what I read or see on the news. I'm sure the government is hiding some crucial facts but there's not much one can do about it. I've read alarmist blogs that say we are facing another Chernobyl to government interviews saying everything's okay. I guess we're fortunate in that we live quite a long way from Fukushima.
General Tourist Discussion - Japan / The State of Japan

I seen your forum on SMF and couldn't help to see if it was based from Japan. if so, I need to know.

I have a few quesitons about the state of Japan now.
1. Have you heard anything from your government about the state of the Fukushima Powerplants?
2. If so, how bad is it? Is it as bad as they say?

And another nameless email. Thanks for coming past.  :o

"Name*:   Skier X

You're rather missing the point. I am a middle-aged, well remunerated, well behaved skier, well acquainted with Japanese customs, but I'm insulted by the wording, so I took my custom elsewhere. Do you imagine I am the only skier who has?"

If you are not happy with what I've said above please do get in touch. I'm quite willing to have an adult discussion about it. I am however not prepared to respond to anonymous trolls.
Arai Mountain and Spa (Closed) / This time?
« Last post by myokoguy on July 24, 2013, 08:35:19 AM »
These rumours occur every summer it seems but there is a new strong rumour that Arai will be re-opened. With Hokuriku shinkansen to come soon the new investor is willing to pump in US$26m. More info soon.
Habeshina Shrine Fall Festival 2013 in Togura Kamiyamada Onsen confirmed for 23-September.
The festival will be held again in September Ginny but the date has not been set yet. Perhaps it would be best to contact the author of the post/blog?

I would also suggest a stay in the town at Kamesei Ryokan. Very popular ryokan with a well known American innkeeper (who is also author of the post above).
Ski Jobs in Japan / Re: Job opportunities for a Dutchman?

Have a couple of leads Timmie and have sent you a PM.

Do look into getting a work visa. That will make life much easier.
Thank you for responding to my question and I am so sorry for being vague. I saw the festival on a go-nagano blog
called Kamiyamada’s quaint Fall Festival to be held on September 26th
However it was posted in 2010 by Tyler. I was hoping to find out if or when this festival will be held in Sept 2013 as we will be in Japan during that time. It looks like a great festival.
Thanks again ginny
There are a few festivals in September Ginny. Where specifically?

I am presuming you mean Go-Nagano (which is the English website for Nagano) as compared to naganogo (which is a local Nozawa website). I have spoken to the Go-Nagano admin and they need more information to help you.
I would appreciate if someone could tell me what the exact date is for the Nagano Sept Festival is on this year 2013. I have gone on the Nagano Go website and cannot find what date the exact date for the September Festival. Some say it is on the 23rd of Sept some say 26th of Sept but nothing for the year 2013.
