Was heading down to pick up the little one from her cousins in Arai recently so decided to take a side trip to Arai Mountain and Spa - first time for a few years.

Approaching the mountain. Getting a bit excited.

Signs are still out. Guess still hoping for a buyer.

A contradiction. A welcome sign with a stern warning to stay out. Nonetheless I jump the ropes and head on in.

Overall the place still looks in good nick considering the years it's been closed (five).

Some parts starting to look a bit dodgy though.

Not wanting to venture in too far I left more trespassing to another day. More photos can be found here - http://myoko-nagano.com/myoko-nagano-photo-gallery/?album=4&gallery=4

The new Hokuriku Shinkansen stop (due to open next year?) will only be twenty minutes or so away. Maybe some investor will jump on this place.

Thanks for posting this. Very interesting and yeah, kinda eerie. Although regarding that photo showing a bit of failed glue and fallen tiles, I think the whole place looks quite good considering being abandoned. Have you seen photos of battleship island?

I am always interested in historic photos.

 :)

That the one off Nagasaki Joe? Yeah, awesome - love to explore there. There's a few Japanese sites that explore abandoned theme parks. If you search you can probably find them. Some great photos.

Agree that all things considered Arai still looks pretty good.  :)
