An hour north of Nagano City sits Myoko Kogen in the Niigata prefecture. It is ideal for families, with a mix of terrain suitable for everyone and both Western and Japanese hotel and hostel options. Mt Myoko-San ski area is made up of nine mountains and the area boasts an annual snowfall of 13 metres, as well as stunning lake views and silver-birch trees. The village is known for its onsens and intimate bars as well as more than 40 restaurants and a variety of hotels. Akakura Kanko Hotel is a luxury hotel with the best views in the region and is also ski-in ski-out.

Can't wait to get to Nagano.

If ur planning trip Bob Myoko's not in Nagano - it's just over the border in Niigata-ken. Common mistake. I think even Google maps lists it as Nagano. Actually much closer to Nag City though - only 40 min by train.
Look! Out on the slopes...it's Pikachu-ski!

Myoko makes it in at No. 6

I've decided not to join the Peak Leaders course this time around. Maybe next season. Still, I'm determined to be having a lager in the hotsprings there sometime soonish.

just found dis in an xtreme sports mag (link) - we moved to Myoko, possibly the best lift accessible terrain I have ever ridden ,not to mention some of the deepest powder I have scored. It was unbelievable and the terrain was incredible with pillows, cliffs and drops galore. With virtually no-one else around the whole mountain was pretty much left for us to ride.We got dumped on night after night and shredded until we dropped.Shinji knows where to find the goods in Japan. I will be back next year for sure...can't wait.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Pika, thanks for the info. I put a link in there for you. Please put links where possible because it's not nice to use somebody else's content without at least a bit of acknowledgment.  8) Cheers, MG
